Faith University - Week 3 Devotionals

DAY 1

Moses: The Faith that Leads

Scripture Reading:
- Hebrews 11:23-29
- Exodus 2:1-10, 3:1-15

Devotional:
As Pastor Jason shared this weekend, we need to recapture the wonder of our faith. Our God wants to move on our behalf if we can trust Him in every aspect of our lives. Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” As we take our next step in faith, we will filled with wonder at the leap that God does through us. This will be true in your life, just as in Moses!

Moses is a prime example of faith that leads and delivers. By faith, Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born. Later, by faith, Moses chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He left Egypt, not fearing Pharoah’s anger, because he persevered as seeing God’s invisible hand. Moses’ faith led to the deliverance of Israel from Egypt, showcasing that true faith often requires difficult choices and steadfastness.

Prayer:
Lord, help us have the faith of Moses, make difficult decisions, and lead others towards Your promises. Please give us the courage to persevere in faith. Amen.

DAY 2

Memorize Scripture

Scripture: Matthew 17:20

"He replied, 'Because you have so little faith. Truly, I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.'"

Instruction:
Spend time today memorizing Matthew 17:20. Reflect on how even a tiny amount of faith can lead to significant outcomes. Consider how Moses’ faith moved mountains in his life and how your faith can do the same.

DAY 3

Joshua: The Faith that Conquers

Scripture Reading:
- Hebrews 11:30
- Joshua 1:1-9, 6:1-20

Devotional:
Joshua’s faith led to Jericho's conquest. By faith, the walls of Jericho fell after the army had marched around them for seven days. Joshua’s leadership and their literal steps of faith in God’s promises brought victory to the Israelites. His story teaches us faith requires action and trust in God’s unconventional methods. Just as Joshua led the people into the Promised Land, our faith can lead us to overcome obstacles and achieve God’s promises.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to have the faith of Joshua, to trust in Your plans, and to act courageously. May our faith lead us to victories that inspire others. Amen.

DAY 4

Faith Activity

Activity:
Today, take time to pray for others. Identify people who need God’s intervention and lift them in prayer. Pray for their needs, their faith, and for God’s blessings to be evident in their lives.

Instruction:
Spend at least 15 minutes in focused prayer for others. Write down the names of those you are praying for and any specific needs they have. Trust that your prayers will make a difference and that God will move in their lives.

DAY 5

Rahab: The Faith that Protects

Scripture Reading:
- Hebrews 11:31
- Joshua 2:1-21, 6:22-25

Devotional:
Rahab’s faith saved her and her family. By faith, the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed by those who were disobedient. Her actions demonstrated a faith that protected and preserved life. Despite her background, Rahab’s belief in the God of Israel led to her being part of the lineage of Jesus. Her story shows that faith can come from unexpected places and be used significantly for His plan.

Prayer:
Lord, help us have the faith of Rahab and trust in Your power to save and protect. Use our faith to make a difference in the lives of others. Amen.

DAY 6

Watch the devotional

Instruction:
Go to our Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/pcfresno/) to watch the devotional from one of our pastors. Reflect on how the faith of Moses, Joshua, and Rahab led to victories that inspired others and brought them closer to God. Consider how you can apply these lessons to your own life and inspire those around you with your faith.

Final Thought:
This week, we’ve seen how the faith of Moses, Joshua, and Rahab led to victories that inspired people far from God. Their stories show us that faith, no matter how small, can lead to significant outcomes and encourage others to trust in God. Their steps of faith led to huge victories. Let’s strive to live out our faith in a way that brings glory to God and encourages those around us.

Join us this weekend on Saturday at 6pm or Sunday at 9am and 11am as we continue Faith University!
